WEDNESDAY 11th JANUARY
Another grimy morning and plenty mist on Kirkby Moor. Heads and Fog Lights to go over there today! Dropped all my VAT and Tax documents down to the Accountants to do “their thing”. Tax is due to be paid by the end of the month. Ugh!! Plenty work to get on with and nice and busy in the office too. The Evening Mail published the sad story of the tragic death of my friend “Big Dave” Howson. There have been masses of tributes from his friends and colleagues in the Hound-Trailing fraternity and the Supporters of Preston North End Football Club on the internet. There is no news of the funeral arrangements but as soon as I have them I will publish them on my Blog.
There seems to be a big row about the French-made silicone breast implants, which are suspected of leaking, as to who is to blame and who is to foot the bill. It must be a dreadful worry for any lady with such implants. The Private Plastic Sugeons are insisting that the implants had been approved for use by the Government department, so they say, the cost must be borne by the government. And so the row rumbles on. In the meantime anxieties grow with these poor women. Willy One-Eye called round to have a chat about our involvement with the funeral and other matters and later I went out to meet up with the WNG. Sadly depleted, there was only Dave Abbott and me! Called down to the Rose as there was some music on but that place was pretty well deserted too. Well, it is January and I suppose lots of folk are skint after the expense of Christmas and new Year.
