Wednesday 25th August; A lovely bright and sunny day! And my Grand -daughter Amber-Mimi who is up on holiday for a few days came to the Office to “work”. She is 10 going on 27. Never shuts up and is an absolute delight. She looked ever-so-smart and every bit the office girl! She did all the shredding, a few errands, made the coffee and kept busy all day long. Clare and Marissa called to take her out for “morning coffee” at Poppies, and Helen went too. Managed to sell another one and then took off for the afternoon in the sports car. Visited a couple of good friends and then carried on to Kirkby Lonsdale to sample the excellent fish and chips from Jingling Lane. Had a nice ride back home in time to get a quick shower and change to be at the Kings Arms for Presentation Night of Ulverston Carnival. It was well attended and the folk enjoyed receiving their silver-ware. The Ulverston Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Ulverston Inshore Rescue, and UVHS Music Department received awards of £916.00 each. The awards and trophies were all presented by Fay Clough the Carnival Queen and she did a terrific job. Photos were all taken by Geoff Balderstone and everyone enjoyed a good buffet supplied by Stuart and Lynn Ward of the Kings Arms. I was stepping down as Chairman after 6 years in the job and was kindly presented by Jan Hancock a Certificate and a beautiful model of a Mercedes SL on a plinth, all suitable engraved, to stand on my desk at work. Very lovely. Home then another quick change and out to meet up with the WNG in the Farmer’s.. Migrated to the Rose to listen to Radio KFK, who were excellent though VERY loud! Had the last one in the Capitola then home to bobo’s. A busy day.
