Opening of the Pakistan Relief Shop in Ulverston

August 28, 2010

Monday 23rd August;   More rain overnight and more during the day. At least the hosepipe ban has been lifted now.   Officially opened the Pakistan Flood Disaster Relief Shop in King Street  ( The former Stead and Simpson’s Shoe Shop) spearheaded by the wonderful Avril Crutchley (It was she who let the Kosovo Relief and the Tsunami Relief campaigns in town).  She already has a gang of  volunteers which have rallied to the call for help,  but more are still needed.  If  you can help please  contact her even if it is for just a couple of hours.   They have received lots of goods for sale already but lots more is required.   My last job was at 5.45 and got caught in that torrential  downpour.  The lanes are flooded in the usual places so please drive with extra care.  Called up to see Clare and Martin.  Josh is still enjoying his job and he has insured his little car so he is “on the road”.  Marissa is waiting anxiously for her Results  which are due Tuesday.  She is bright as a button so I am certain she will have done well.  Home then and made myself ( though you know I am not  one for bragging!) ,  the best fish pie imaginable!  It was scrummy!
