Sunday 9th May; Woke up to a bit of a dull morning. Had a lovely long steaming hot bath followed by grilled Manx Kippers. Absolutely super. Attacked the DTGK crossword and managed to get it all done minus 3. Not bad. Did a spot of housework, tidying, and hoovering round. Place looks nice again. Got the bike out and went for a ride down the Canal. Lovely. Saw that the swan is still sitting on her nest so will watch in anticipation. It was a nice ride out and I met some nice folk enjoying the afternoon sunshine. Home again and went out for “Cocktails at 5″ with Alan. Very nice. Helen and her gang of 26 had been delayed as a consequence of the Ash Cloud coming back from Benidorm. They were on the plane, and stuck on the runway for 7 hours. Great fun. They eventually took off and got back in Ulverston for 8.30 and I met up with them in the Rose. They all looked great and had, obviously, had a good time
