Wednesday 21st July; Still raining but brighter, and true enough, the sun came out mid-day. It’s lovely to feel the warmth of the sun again. Went to Over Kelett (near Carnforth) a charming little village, to attend the funeral of my old friend Mel Wilson who died very suddenly aged 65. He was a larger than life character, and it was he who founded the Advertiser newspaper in Millom, selling out to the Evening Mail some years ago. More latterly he was well involved with the Kleeneze company and there was vast evidence of that involvement with all the sign-written cars in the church car-park. The church was full to over-flowing, and the service was very moving. After the service I carried onto Lancaster and had a look around, enjoying the glorious English sunshine. Home for about 5 to learn that Helen had sold another. Good Girl! Sat out on the roof garden to read the papers and enjoyed a pleasant snooze. A nice tea and then got W&P to meet up with the WNG. There was a nice crowd out. Met in the Farmer’s then to the Capitola and finally to the Rose. A busy day.
Funeral of Mel Wilson.

Thank you for your comments about dad’s service. I remember you from years ago!
It’s been the hardest thing for mum and I but it was very comforting to see so many people there to send dad off.
Best wishes
Helen Wilson
