Tuesday 31st May.
Back to work on a lovely sunny morning. Busy from first thing and then had to attend the funeral of my old friend Rod Smith. His son, Gary went to school with my son Roger so I have been friends with Rod for over 30 years and during that time we enjoyed many adventures including the wrecking of his his boat, “Jacaranda” , a 28ft Anderson sailing cruiser, on the way to Troon for a sailing holiday. He was a great mate and I will miss him dearly. Attended the reception afterwards at the Lancastrian and enjoyed reminiscing of all the good times with his family and friends. Viewed a lovely country house so I’m keeping my fingers crossed to get the Instruction. Finished up across at Kirkby to see another and then home for a sit-out on the poop deck with a pot of Lapsang Souchon and read the papers and managed to finish the Telegraph General Knowledge from last Saturday. Some really obscure questions, evern more obscure than usual. Had a nice tea followed by a LDSB and afterwards simply relaxed with a glass of Cointreau and ice. Nice!

Hi Ralph. Lovely to read your kind words about Dad. Can’t believe Gaz and I had never heard about that boat wrecking incident before! We will all miss him. See you in the Lakes in a few weeks,
Sara (Rod’s daughter) x
