SATURDAY 14th JANUARY

A beautiful morning!  Bright clear skies adn rather chilly.  Wonderful.   Had a good day at work managing to finish around 12.30.  Did my bit of weekend shopping around the town adn then home to watch the racing on the box.  My two selections managing to fail miserably! I made a nice mince and onion pie ready for tea.  Willy One-Eye and Ding Dong called round to let me know of the latest developments with the funeral arrangements for Big Dave.  Everything seems to be firming up quite well with no unforseen problems.  There will be a contingent coming up from Preston as Dave was a  keen member of Preston North End Football Club.   Alan sent a text inviting me out for a tea-time-snifter.  Which I  accepted without hessitation.  Had a couple in the Farmers and were joined by the Seeley’s and the Clellands.  I only stayed for 2 then off home for a scrummy tea and a nice “evening in”.  I watched, for the umpteenth time, ” Mama Mia”.  Always an enjoyable movie.

Friday the 13th !!!!! Ooooooh!

January 19, 2012

FRIDAY 13th JANUARY Oooh!  The 13th!  That’s hard for a Triskadekaphobic and even worse for someone who fears FRIDAY the 13th  ( Paraskevidekatriaphobic).    Curiously there will be 3 occurances ( 13th April and  July 13th ) of Friday 13 during 2012 and even  more curious is the   fact that they will be exactly 13 weeks apart!  [...]

R.I.P. “Big Dave” Howson.

January 19, 2012

TUESDAY 10th JANUARY It’s well circulated around the town now,  the news that my old friend “Big Dave”  Howson died very suddenly on Sunday.  He was a larger than life character with a booming voice and a ready smile.  He had a fund of jokes to suit any occasion and had an extremely caustic wit.  [...]

January 13, 2012

SUNDAY 8th JANUARY Woke up to a rather wet morning.  A bit of a disappointment as I had hoped it was going to be fine enough to get out on the Bandit.  Had a bit of a lie-in and read the papers in bed.  Enjoyed my LDSB followed by a FE and simply pottered around [...]
